Application for Certificates of No Impediment

Certificates of No Impediment are issued to KENYAN CITIZENS wishing to have their marriages, either to Kenyan citizens or foreigners (Non-Kenyans) performed abroad. The Certificate confirms that the applicant is SINGLE and has the capacity to enter into marriage.

Every Kenyan wishing to marry abroad has to apply for a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage from the nearest Kenyan Mission. The application is then forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General (State Law Office) in Nairobi, Kenya for processing.


NOTE

-Marriages conducted without issuance of this Certificate will neither be recognized by the Mission nor by the Authorities in Kenya.

-The Kenya Government neither acknowledges nor endorses same-sex marriages.

-The govt of Kenya does not issue certificat de coutume but the Embassy issues an attestation to present to the mairie to that effect to accompany the certificate of no impediment.


The following are the requirements to facilitate issuance of a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage:-

1. Duly filled Application Form below (Form No.7);

3. Proof of legal stay (Valid Residence permit)

4. Copy Kenyan birth certificate;

5. Copy of the Fiancée’s (spouse to be) passport;

6. Application fee of 110 Euros in cash;

Application for Certificate of Good Conduct

Certificate of Good Conduct are issued to KENYAN CITIZENS by the kenyan embassies abroad or online through E-Citizen, available on this link this link >>>

Every Kenyan wishing to a certificate of Good Conduct, should make a request from the nearest Kenyan Mission abroad. The application is then forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi, Kenya for processing.


The following are the requirements to facilitate issuance of a Certificate of Goo Conduct:-

1. Duly filled Application Form (Download below) and Finger and palm prints taken at the nearest police station of residence

3. Copy Kenyan birth certificate;

4. Copy Kenyan ID;

5. Proof of legal stay (Residence permit)

6. Application fee of 20 Euros in cash;

Start by applying the passport through the eCitizen portal (www.ecitizen.go.ke) by by filling up a form and submitting it.
The passport applicants will then download the form, sign and date it, then submit it in person at the Embassy along with the required documents for biometrics capture.

Requirements for replacement of passport

1. A duly filled application form
2. Copy of Birth Certificate
3. Copy Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by Registration
4. Original Kenyan ID and a copy for Adults
3 (Three) passport size photos
5. Copy of the recommender’s Kenyan ID (Recommender is any Kenyan of sound mind who can certify that you are a Kenyan citizen)
6. Duly filled Consent form for Minors
7. Old passport and a copy
8. 2(two) payment invoices for the prescribed fee

Mutilated passports

1. A duly filled application form
2. Copy of Birth Certificate
3. Copy Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by Registration
4. Original Kenyan ID and a copy for Adults
5. 3 (Three) passport size photos
6. Copy of the recommender’s Kenyan ID (Recommender is any Kenyan of sound mind who can certify that you are a Kenyan citizen)
7. Duly filled Consent form for Minors
8. Old passport and a copy
9. Personal statement explaining circumstances for the damage
10. Sworn affidavit to support (9) above
11. 2(two) payment invoices for the prescribed fee

Lost passports

1. A duly filled application form
2. Copy of Birth Certificate
3. Copy Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by Registration
4. Original Kenyan ID and a copy for Adults
5. 3 (Three) passport size photos
6. Copy of the recommender’s Kenyan ID (Recommender is any Kenyan of sound mind who can certify that you are a Kenyan citizen)
7. Duly filled Consent form for Minors
8. Copy of Old passport
9. Personal statement explaining circumstances for loss
10. Sworn affidavit to support (9) above …Click to download
11. Police report on loss of passport (Not just the case number)
12. 2(two) payment invoices for the prescribed fee

Important information

– Don’t forget to book your appointment with the embassy
– It is the upon of the applicant to fulfill all the application requirements as above
– Applications must be presented against original Kenyan National IDs
– All minors must accompanied by their parents or legal guardians
– Change of name apart from through Marriage must be accompanied by a Deed poll and the changes must be affected in the Kenyan National ID card
– The Birth Certificate numbers appear on the Left hand side of the Birth Certificate (above the date of birth) and not at the top right hand side (Serial No.)
